DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Feb. 13, 2017)—German-based pump manufacturer Wilo celebrated laying the foundation stone for its new facility located in the Jafza (Jebel Ali Free Zone) of Dubai, according to a statement from the company.

Wilo said that by investing in the Dubai economic hub, the company is acknowledging the region’s growing prominence and responding to the market’s increasing requirements.

“The role of the city as a platform and logistic hub for trade in the Middle East, Dubai’s efficient infrastructure by land, sea and air and the long-term economic stability offered by this country were the crucial factors tipping the balance in favor of investing here,” WILO SE COO Carsten Krumm said in the statement.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early 2018.

Selected guests and customers from the Middle East attended an event to celebrate the laying of the foundation stone.

The 8,000-square-meter complex includes an assembly line, office space, showrooms, a logistics center and dedicated training rooms. The training rooms, called “Wilo Academy,” offer dealers, engineers, installers and consumers a location for attending training sessions for the various applications of Wilo products.

Wilo said the new facilities will be among the most energy-efficient of its class in Dubai and will be awarded with the LEED Gold certification.
