Jannik Röben is CIRCOR International’s senior director of marketing and strategy, industrial pumps. Röben, 33, leads product management, strategic business development and marketing communications teams for CIRCOR’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC) business.
With a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and mechatronics from Hochschule Furtwangen, Röben joined the pump industry early pursuing a dual study course at pump manufacturer Allweiler that combined an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic with university studies, including a six-month internship in application engineering in Hong Kong.
After working in application engineering, Röben worked in various sales roles and then jumped into strategic business development.
“In strategic business development, I had the chance to help define the right direction of the industrial pump business,” Röben said. “That is where I was able to do a deep dive into future technology and what this means for us as a pump manufacturer.”
Röben now works to align the company’s strategy to drive the development of innovative products to help end users with these new markets, applications and pumping challenges. Key examples include solutions for the hydrogen economy, alternative fuels and lithium battery production, as well as the development of customized pumps to help reduce micro-plastic waste in the oceans and reduce the environmental impact of aquaculture.
“I find it fulfilling and challenging to be responsible for product management, strategic business development and marketing communications teams from across Europe to the EMEA, as well as APAC businesses,” he said.
Röben said he works hard to learn new things on a daily basis.
“I am continuously consuming new learnings from various sources like books, videos or podcasts,” he said. “Especially when I recognize that I have a gap somewhere, I try to close it by searching for the right content. Luckily in nowadays digital world, this is as available as never before.”
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I spend most of my time outside of work with my family. I have two young kids. Apart from that, you will likely find me doing sports, diving or traveling.
