According to the United Nations, about 750 million people do not have access to clean water. Much of this precious resource is wasted in such applications as oil production, heating & cooling and agriculture. Some of the planet's most arid regions, such as the Middle East, have the least amount of renewable water sources yet some of the highest per capita water consumption rates.

However, across the globe, government agencies and companies are working to expand how industries perceive water reuse—and how the practices can save time and money. Below are five stories from across the world where engineers and pump experts have come together to find innovative solutions and applications for water reuse.
