Grundfos raises nearly $170,000 for communities in Haiti and Uganda

Grundfos partners with Water Missions International to organize an annual Walk for Water event. Grundfos employees join family, friends and corporate partners to take part in the non-competitive, educational event that mimics the trek of those who walk almost four miles per day to provide their families with what is often contaminated water. Halfway through the 3.5-mile walk, participants fill three-gallon buckets with water, simulating the true burden of life in a developing nation.

Since Grundfos’ first Walk for Water in support of Water Missions International took place in 2012, nearly $170,000 has been raised and thousands of people now have daily safe water access in Haiti and Uganda. Each year, Grundfos hopes to continue the tradition of impacting entire areas through safe water community development projects.

"Each year, Grundfos employees join together along with sponsor companies and members of the community, to change lives of those who thirst. The innovative technology, provided by Grundfos is used by Water Missions to deliver safe water to people in need around the world. The Grundfos Walk for Water partnership with Water Missions allows staff to also play an important role in ending the global water crisis," said Lauren Jernigan, International Walk for Water Manager, Water Missions.

In 2014, Grundfos once again hosted three Walk for Water events in North America during the month of August to raise money for Water Missions International. Walks were held in Kansas City, Missouri; Chicago, Illinois; and Toronto, Canada.

The funds raised by Grundfos in 2014 will impact projects in five Ugandan communities—Ayilo I, Birra Health Center III, Nyumanzi Health Center II, Boroli and Odubu.
