Pumps and Systems Success Story of the Year 2010 Finalist

To improve the operation of traditional peristaltic pumps, Larox Flowsys created the LPP eccentric roller peristaltic pump. The design has one large roller on a cam shaft that rolls over the hose only one compression per revolution. Due to less friction, heat, damage and lower compressions, hose life is four to five times longer than multiple shoe or multiple roller designs. The LPP also uses a fraction of the glycerin required by other peristaltic designs. Glycerin is expensive and must be disposed of when either spent or contaminated.

The Hamilton Municipal Electric Plant in Hamilton, Ohio, replaced a 4 in. shoe design hose peristaltic pump with a 2.5 in. Larox pump. The original pump cost $29,000 per year to operate, while the Larox pump cost $9,000 (a 69 percent savings).
