Operations Challenge & Conditioning Pump
The Vaughan Conditioning Pump is a Vaughan Submersible Chopper Pump mounted on a portable stand and fitted with high-velocity mixing nozzle. The Conditioning Pump recirculates the contents of the wet well, chopping and mixing to produce a homogeneous mixture that is more easily pumped out.
"WHAT COULD MAKE THIS BETTER?"
That was the question Jim Vaughan found himself asking on a regular basis. In the service bay of the gas station he owned in Elma, Washington, he spent hours repairing manure pumps for local dairy farmers. He could see a pattern: the pumps were constantly breaking down due to clogs caused by animal bedding or twine. Existing designs simply could not handle the material that was making its way into the waste stream. Setting his mind to the problem, Jim invented the world's first chopper pump in 1960, and Vaughan Company was born.
