PARSIPPANY, N.J. (April 8, 2014) – The Hydraulic Institute (HI) has entered a training partner agreement with ABB and Baldor Electric Company, a member of the ABB Group. Through this relationship, all three companies will broaden educational opportunities for pump end users, distributors and consulting firms by developing co-branded educational and training programs and sponsoring technical webinars and e-learning courses focused on a variety of pump topics as well as host the expanded Pump Systems Optimization courses.

Allison Carroll, Baldor’s industry account manager, Water and Wastewater, stated, “By entering this new training partner agreement with HI, we intend to extend our resources to further meet our customers’ needs for technical engineering-driven education programs focused on improving pump performance, extending product life cycles and understanding how drives and motors are integrated into this solution.”

As part of this new partnership, ABB and Baldor will host the one-day Pump Systems Optimization course that is focused on reducing energy costs, maintenance and down time associated with pump operations. In addition to engineers, the course is recommended to maintenance, operations and sales personnel involved with pump systems. End users and engineering consulting firm employees taking the course will gain knowledge and credibility and will have the opportunity to network with others.

“By hosting a Pump Systems Optimization course and being a committed HI Training Partner in North America, ABB and Baldor are leading the way in helping pump end users learn how to identify and reduce hidden operation and energy costs,” states Robert Asdal, executive director, Hydraulic Institute.

The ABB Inc. Drives and Controls business unit supplies a complete line of energy-efficient electric drives and engineered drive systems.

Baldor Electric Company is a North American marketer, designer and manufacturer of industrial electric motors, drives and mechanical power transmission products. In 2011, Baldor became a member of the ABB Group.

The mission of the Hydraulic Institute is to be a value-adding resource to member companies, engineering consulting firms, and pump users worldwide by developing and delivering comprehensive industry standards, expanding knowledge by providing education and tools for the effective application, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of pumps and pumping systems, and by serving as a forum for the exchange of industry information.

Pump Systems Matter is a non-profit educational organization established by the Hydraulic Institute and utilities and energy efficiency organizations to educate the industry on the benefits to pump systems optimization and energy efficiency to improve bottom-line savings of end-user companies.
