NEW YORK, N.Y. – The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) announced that the AIChE board of directors has appointed Victor Bohnert as chief executive officer. Bohnert has served as interim CEO during AIChE’s leadership transition.
“Throughout his tenure as Interim CEO, Victor has provided steady, mission-focused leadership and has worked closely with our volunteers and staff to strengthen member value and advance AIChE’s long-range strategy,” said Joseph D. Smith, AIChE president. “We are excited for what comes next as AIChE continues to serve the global chemical engineering community.”
Under Bohnert’s leadership as Interim CEO, AIChE has continued to advance its mission through programs that support education and professional development, convene the community, strengthen safety and ethical practice and elevate the role of chemical engineers in addressing global priorities, including sustainability, safety and innovation.

Bohnert brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across associations and nonprofit organizations, including executive leadership positions with member-driven organizations.
