FORT SMITH, Ark. - ABB's Motors and Generators division has named Jesse Henson President of their U.S. business.
Henson, who has been with the company for 23 years, leads the team responsible for marketing, designing and manufacturing ABB and Baldor-Reliance industrial electric motors in the United States. Henson will also continue to be the global head of the NEMA motors product group.
ZURICH, Switzerland - ABB completed the divestment of 80.1 percent of its Power Grids business to Hitachi, as planned.
The divestment allows ABB to focus on key market trends and customer needs such as the electrification of transport and industry, automated manufacturing, digital solutions and increased sustainable productivity.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - ABB has been selected to supply a mill-wide distributed control system (DCS) and quality control system (QCS) for the Gulf Ply Paper (GPP) Company’s new paper mill in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The solution includes ABB’s pulp and paper Library, providing a means of controlling and supervising manufacturing processes when the new mill becomes operational in October 2019.
SAO PAOLO - ABB will provide Brazil’s electric power transmission company, Argo Energia, a complete suite of asset management software solutions to improve the efficiency and stability of their new power transmission network in Brazil. Globally, this is the first such integrated system to be deployed in a power transmission network.
ZURICH, Switzerland - The Board of ABB has unanimously appointed Björn Rosengren, as Chief Executive Officer. He will join ABB on February 1, 2020 and succeed CEO Peter Voser in this role on March 1, 2020. At that time, Voser will revert to his position at ABB solely as Chairman of the Board.
VAASA, Finland - ABB has won an order from MHI Vestas Offshore Wind to supply its reliable, energy-efficient and compact WindSTAR transformers for installation in wind turbines in the North Sea. The order was booked in the second quarter of 2019.
CARY, N.C. - ABB has appointed Maryrose Sylvester as country managing director (CMD) and head of electrification for the United States, effective Aug. 1, 2019.
In the CMD role, she will succeed Greg Scheu, who will support a smooth transition until his retirement at the end of Oct. 31, 2019.

The chairman of the board, Peter Voser, has become interim CEO in addition to his current role, with immediate effect. An official search to find a new CEO has been initiated.
