BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 10, 2013) – Pumps & Systems, the leading magazine for pump users worldwide, is proud to officially begin its highly-anticipated tour of manufacturing facilities around the world—Pumps & Systems on Tour. From these exclusive tours, the Pumps & Systems team will bring its readers dynamic, informative video coverage, photo albums and in-depth research on the innovative technologies and distinctive processes in operation. The tours will also include bonus coverage of visits to select locations to see pumps in action in real-world applications.

The Pumps & Systems On Tour project kicked off on April 9, 2013, with a stop at SEPCO in Alabaster, Ala. SEPCO is a manufacturer with a long history of producing high-quality mechanical seals and braided packing for the fluid handling industries. Pumps & Systems Editor Michelle Segrest, Associate Editor Amanda Perry and Creative Director Terri Jackson learned about SEPCO's distinctive technologies and processes from CEO Chris Wilder. Coverage of the SEPCO tour can be found here http://www.pump-zone.com/pumps-systems-tour.

Throughout the year, the Pumps & Systems team will travel to select manufacturing facilities in the United States, Denmark, France and Germany.

“The purpose of this project is to witness groundbreaking manufacturing processes, learn about cutting-edge technologies and then share that information with our loyal Pumps & Systems audience,” Segrest said. “We have an incredible opportunity to capture hands-on knowledge and relay that information through our many powerful media products, which include the print magazine, e-newsletters and our website, www.pump-zone.com.”

The Pumps & Systems on Tour coverage will also include visits to specific locations where pumps are in use and at work. This bonus coverage includes visits to a Germany wastewater facility, the greenest hotel in the world (Copenhagen), the Hoover Dam in Las Vegas, a sugar factory in Louisiana and the famous Sewers of Paris.

“To see how the pumps and other products are manufactured is a great learning experience for us and will help us with our future coverage of technical processes,” Segrest said. “To see the pumps working in actual applications is a special treat and something we look forward to sharing with our readers.”

In May and June, the Pumps & Systems team travels to Europe to visit five manufacturing facilities in Denmark, France and Germany. The European tour begins with a visit to Bjerringbro, Denmark on May 30 to tour the Grundfos headquarters, at which the global pump manufacturer produces more than 16 million pump units annually. The next stop is June 3 in Auxerre, France, for coverage of Mouvex, part of Dover’s Pump Solutions Group and the manufacturer of eccentric disc, rotary vane and peristaltic (hose) pumps.

Frankenthal, Germany, is home to the KSB Aktiengesellschaft facility and the site of the next stop on June 5. KSB AG manufactures pumps, valves and systems for process engineering applications, water and wastewater management, and the energy and mining sectors. On June 6, the Pumps & Systems team travels to KSB’s state-of-the-art testing facility in Halle, Germany. The last stop on the European tour is in Kamp Lintfort, Germany, on June 7 with Almatec, a Dover’s Pump Solutions Group company that manufactures air-operated double-diaphragm pumps for the chemical, solar, hygienic and other process industries.

Pumps & Systems team members Perry and Managing Editor Lori Ditoro will be in Cleveland, Ohio, in June for a tour of the newest SKF Solutions Factory. Other facility tours are scheduled for later in the year.
