Dubai, UAE (June 24, 2014)— His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, has launched the UAE Suqia Initiative to provide clean water to 5 million people worldwide. The initiative will be implemented through digging wells, provision of water pumps and water purification equipment to the needy areas. The campaign will start in the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Sheikh Mohammed said, "In our country, water is great blessing. Our ancestors had been deprived of water, thus they knew its value, and nowadays those specialized in water projects know that a huge part of our financial resources is allocated to water purposes.” The UAE Suqia campaign is in cooperation with the Red Crescent Authority and other charity organizations nationwide, as well as the private sector and media.
