CHICAGO, IL – Leading global water technology company Xylem, will address the challenge of ‘urban resilience’ by showcasing its portfolio of water technologies at the WEFTEC 2017 in Chicago from October 2-4. Xylem’s extensive range of proven, smart water technologies help communities tackle critical water challenges across the water cycle and support sustainable water management.

On October 2 at 11 a.m. (booth ♯1248, South Hall A), Xylem will unveil a series of smart dewatering pumps under its Godwin brand. With advanced levels of control, efficiency, reliability and environmental protection, the first model in the series is the company’s smartest dewatering pump produced to date. Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Quenington, UK since 1865, the Godwin brand set the standard nearly five decades ago with the invention of Dri-Prime technology and will do so again. All WEFTEC participants are invited to attend and for those not attending in person, the unveiling may be watched live on Godwin’s Facebook page.
Xylem will continue to advance the discussion on water reuse as a critical component of a sustainable water resource management strategy at its novel beer-tasting event, serving beer brewed using reuse water. The beer tasting will take place in the Xylem booth on October 2, 4-6 p.m.
Xylem will also provide attendees with the opportunity to take a virtual tour of a submersible pump station, which features four of Xylem’s largest Flygt submersible centrifugal pumps. The virtual tour was designed with the company’s new SECAD station design software and it allows guests to experience how virtual reality can be used for education, inspection and visualization of components that can be difficult to see in the real world. The tour will take place in room Clark A in the Hyatt Regency, McCormick Place, Monday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 4, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Those wishing to attend may register in advance at www.xylem.com/weftec but walk-ins are also welcome.
Xylem’s Dr. Rob Smith, Applications Engineer for Wastewater will present a mobile session on October 3 (booth 4807 Hall A) about nutrient analyzers and sensors, including how to identify the right instruments for their needs. Topics like quality control, cost of ownership and installation will be discussed. He will also present a technical session entitled ‘Are you spending quality time with your probes and sensors?’ on October 4 (room S502a).
Sarah Elger, Global Product Manager for Xylem’s Sanitaire brand, will deliver a presentation exploring how a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) provides an effective alternative to conventional activated sludge process as part of the popular WEFTEC mobile session series. Ms. Elger will also participate in the ‘Interactive Knowledge Exchange (IKE): Innovation’ series, discussing the topic ‘Do more with less – how smart control of an SBR can fulfill new permits while reducing cost’ on October 3, 8.30 a.m.-10.30 a.m., room S402a, McCormick Place.
At the Xylem Booth
Xylem will launch a new controller for the YSI IQ SensorNet continuous monitoring and control system, the 282/284 controller. Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to win one of these new controllers, by entering to win at booth #1248. Ideal for small to midsized wastewater treatment facilities, the YSI IQ SensorNet 282/284 controller allows for the connection of 1-4 IQ SensorNet sensors and can monitor up to 20 parameters.
Xylem will also showcase its YSI Pro20i dissolved oxygen and temperature portable instrument at WEFTEC. The Pro20i is YSI’s newest portable meter and is a direct replacement for the model 55 and 550A dissolved oxygen instruments. It is ideal for quick spot sampling of the wastewater process and receiving waters. Xylem’s YSI MultiLab meter with new wireless sensors and the new EcoSense pH1000A – a benchtop laboratory instrument for pH, mV (ORP) and temperature – will also be on display.
A new controller for Xylem’s OSCAR process performance optimizer for use in wastewater treatment applications will also be highlighted. The NURO controller is a tailor-made control system for the Sanitaire ICEAS advanced sequencing batch reactor (SBR). It combines the operational flexibility provided by the ICEAS system with advanced process control to improve treatment capacity while reducing operational cost. Benefits delivered by the NURO controller include stabilizing treatment, optimizing nitrogen removal, enabling biological phosphorus removal, reducing energy, reducing the need for chemicals and protecting equipment.
Augmented reality displays at the booth of Xylem’s Wedeco Duron and K-Reactor will enable visitors to see how these treatment solutions operate within a variety of different parameters.
The company’s revolutionary Flygt Concertor, the world’s first wastewater pumping system with integrated intelligence, will also be displayed at the event.
