CAPE TOWN, South Africa – The first W12 Congress, sponsored by DuPont Water Solutions, will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2020. The conference, organised by international water charity SOS NPO, will take place from January 27-31, and bring together 1,500 water industry experts and key government and business figures to discuss the challenges facing major cities across the world that are at risk for a “Day Zero” scenario, where water resources are depleted and taps run dry. The W12 Congress will result in the creation of the world’s first Major City Best Practices Water Protocol.

Alexander Lane, commercial director at DuPont Water Solutions, will address the Congress following a keynote speech from former governor of California and climate change activist, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Lane will explain how the business’ high-performance products and integrated technologies are delivering against the sustainability agenda and optimizing supply of water for communities and industries across the world. He will also participate in the panel debate.

In addition, DuPont will host a booth showcasing a broad range of high performance water treatment products and integrated technologies capable of being deployed across industries and facilitating sustainable water consumption. Visitors to the booth will have access to DuPont’s experts who will introduce them to multi-technology platforms, which unlock possibilities in a rapidly changing water market – from ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ion exchange resins and electrodeionization.

“Water sustainability is a global challenge that requires a global solution, and we are proud to take a lead role promoting cooperation through our partnership with the W12 Congress,” Lane said. “Key decision makers will leave this landmark conference better informed about the threat of water scarcity and with the knowledge that DuPont’s portfolio of market leading, innovative technologies provides the tools to tackle this threat.”
