DUBAI (22 October 2014)—Wilo Middle East FZE recently invited consultants, contractors and end users to the Address Dubai Marina Hotel to present its solutions for building services, water management and industry. The pump manufacturer, headquartered in Dortmund, Germany, presented its latest technological developments for climate control, drinking water and wastewater.

(22 October 2014)—Shell announced a frontier exploration discovery offshore Gabon, West Africa. The well Leopard-1 encountered a substantial gas column with about 200 meters net gas pay in a pre-salt reservoir.

Leopard-1 is located about 145 kilometers off the Gabonese coast, west of Gamba. It was drilled in water 2,110 meters deep to a total vertical depth of 5,063 meters. Shell and partners are planning to undertake an appraisal program to further determine the resource volumes.

WAYNE, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2014) – The Fluid Sealing Association has appointed Michael Shorts as president, Phil Mahoney as vice president and Robert S. Coffee as member of its board of directors. Shorts is currently vice president and general manager for Triangle Fluid Controls Ltd. (TFC) located in Belleville, Ontario, Canada; Mahoney is serving as the design engineering manager for compression packing and mechanical seals for the A.W.

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2014) – Ensinger Inc. has named Victrex plc winner of its High-Performance Supplier/Partner of the Year award for 2013.

Headquartered in Germany, Ensinger GmbH obtains its supply of PEEK (polyetheretherketone) polymer from Victrex. VICTREX PEEK polymer is incorporated in its TECAPEEK series of stock shapes designed for use in challenging and extreme environments.

WASHINGTON (21 October 2014)—General Electric Company picked up two awards at this year’s Africa Investor (Ai) Investment and Business Leader Awards. GE Africa was awarded Green Investment Initiative of the Year for the Power Africa initiative. In addition, GE’s global chairman and CEO, Jeff Immelt, was awarded Global Investment Personality of the Year.

HOUSTON (Oct. 20, 2014) – Demonstrating how GE’s technology, project expertise and skilled workforce are helping petrochemicals producers upgrade their facilities worldwide, GE Oil & Gas has announced its Downstream Technology Solutions (DTS) business has received the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA) 2014 Project Excellence Gold Level Award for its role in upgrading Italian petrochemicals operator Versalis’ Priolo ethylene plant in Sicily.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Oct. 17, 2014) – Xylem Inc. has won a contract to supply Flygt propeller pumps to two pumping stations in key areas of metropolitan Manila. Benefiting more than half a million people, Xylem’s Flygt technology will increase the flow capacity of the stations by 25 percent, helping to protect residential areas from severe monsoon flooding and improve environmental and sanitary conditions in the city.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Oct. 17, 2014) – After successful completion of several months of testing and trial runs, three Siemens gas turbines were recently handed over to Dow Stade at Dow's new cogeneration power plant. The cogeneration plant is part of the energy concept for the Dow chemical site located in Stade, Germany, along the Elbe River and contributes to secure power supply for the entire site. The installed capacity of the plant is 163 megawatts (MW).
