ERLANGEN, Germany (May 19, 2014) – A consortium comprising of Siemens AG, Siemens Ltd. Thailand and the Japanese partner Marubeni has completed the Wang Noi 4 combined cycle power plant in Thailand on schedule. The owner, the state-owned utility Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), took the power plant into commercial operation on April 7, 2014. The natural gas fired power plant features an efficiency of over 57.3 percent with an electrical capacity of 770 megawatts (MW).

(May 19, 2014)—Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the receipt of an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. to supply control systems, safety instrumented systems, analysis systems and other products for Stage-1 of the Jeddah South supercritical oil-fired thermal power plant project in Saudi Arabia. The joint order recipients are Yokogawa Electric and a subsidiary, Yokogawa Middle East & Africa B.S.C.(c).

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 19, 2014) – Flygt has started crisscrossing the country with 24- and 12-foot long mobile display units (MDUs) equipped with informative exhibits of the manufacturer’s solutions for water and wastewater systems. The larger mobile showroom features equipment marketed by Flygt and Godwin, a companion line of pumps also owned by Xylem, Inc.

ZURICH (May 19, 2014) – ABB has won contracts worth in excess of $20 million to supply electrical power and propulsion systems for two offshore vessels.

The first vessel, of ULSTEIN SX165 design, is being constructed at Ulstein Verft in Norway for Island Ventures 11, the joint venture set up in 2012 by the leading US and Norwegian owners Edison Chouest Offshore and Island Offshore, whose advanced subsea service vessels provide high quality solutions to the offshore oil industry.

ENLARGEN, Germany (May 15, 2014) – The Gemini consortium has signed all construction, operations and financing contracts with a total construction budget of nearly €3 billion. With more than 20 parties involved, 70 percent of this budget will be provided on the basis of project financing – making Gemini the largest-ever financed offshore wind farm. For the Gemini project, Siemens will deliver 150 wind turbines with a capacity of 4 megawatts (MW) and a rotor diameter of 130 meters each.
