BADEN, Switzerland (May 7, 2013) – ABB’s Turbocharging business unit received an order to upgrade a series of power plants within the context of its business collaboration with Wärtsilä. The order is the first of three, which together will amount to substantial annual fuel savings for the power plants being upgraded.

NUREMBERG (May 16, 2013) – The Siemens Drive Technologies Division has developed a new drive system for a cement mill as part of a joint project with Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, a company with a long and successful tradition in the manufacture of processing systems for the cement, lime, gypsum and ceramics industries. Siemens will supply six drive modules.

STOCKHOLM (May 17, 2013) – Xylem Inc. has been awarded a $2.9 million contract from the Beijing Drainage Group (BDG) to install Xylem’s Flygt® pumps in 19 pumping stations in downtown Beijing.

The new Flygt submersible centrifugal sewage pumps will improve the stations’ water storage capability and prevent overflow by providing more efficient drainage and flood control.

HOUSTON (May 2, 2013) – Underscoring its commitment to the small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, GE Oil & Gas announced that it has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Schertz, Texas-based Salof Companies, a designer of small–scale LNG technologies.

TOPSFIELD, Mass. (May 21, 2013) – The International Desalination Association (IDA) announced that it has selected San Diego as the site for its 2015 World Congress. Dates are Aug. 29–Sept. 4, 2015, and the Congress will be held at the San Diego Convention Center. This will be the first time since 1999 that the IDA World Congress will take place in North America.
