CHELTENHAM, England -- Spirax-Sarco has announced plans to acquire Chromalox, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of electric heat and control products.

Spirax-Sarco will purchase the company from private equity firm Irving Place Capital for $415 million, according to Reuters. Spirax-Sarco will retain Chromalox's executive team after the acquisition is completed.

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, England -- Atlas Copco has appointed Alexander Pavlov as general manager of its Compressors Technique business in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Pavlov previously managed Atlas Copco's compressors business in Ireland. He joined the company in Antwerp in 2003, and has also been based in Greece.

According to an Atlas Copco release, the aftermarket business will be one of Pavlov's main focus areas.

WINTERTHUR, Switzerland -- Sulzer last week announced plans to acquire a New Zealand pharmaceutical delivery company to round out its Applicator Systems division.

Sulzer has signed a binding agreement to acquire Simcro, a 230-employee company that manufactures animal pharmaceutical delivery devices such as injectors and applicators for livestock and companion animals. A Sulzer release values the acquisition at NZD 132 million.

DALLAS -- Flowserve has elected Roger Fix as its new chairman following the retirement of previous Board of Directors Chair Bill Rusnack.

Fix has served as a Flowserve director since 2006, according to a report on worldpumps.com. He was originally elected to the Board of Directors in 2006.

Previously, Fix was president and chief executive officer of Standex International Corporation.

COPENHAGEN -- Grundfos' ALPHA3 product has taken home a Danish Design Award for its financial efficiency and advanced technology.

Grundfos received the award in the 'Save Money' category, as the combination of ALPHA3's pump, reader and app make it more economical for users. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik awarded Danish designers and companies in 13 different categories.

ZURICH, Switzerland -- ABB has won a $30 million order for a HVDC power link upgrade in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Société nationale d'électricité (SNEL), the national electricity company of the DRC, awarded ABB the contract to boost transmission capacity and supply clean hydro power. The upgrade will benefit the Inga-Kolwezi high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission link.
