BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Pumps & Systems podcast has been named a regional finalist in the 2026 American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASPBE) Azbee Awards for the Southeast.
The Azbee Awards honor the best in business-to-business (B2B) media, celebrating outstanding work by business, trade, association and professional publications across 59 categories. Recognized for their high standards in editorial quality, design and digital publishing, the Azbees are among the most respected awards in B2B media.
Launching in 2019, the Pumps & Systems podcast provides monthly interviews with Managing Editor Thom Baer and top experts from industry-leading companies spanning topics across multiple applications. New episodes release on the first Wednesday of every month and are available on most major podcast platforms. They can be found in video format on the Pumps & Systems YouTube channel.

In the episode that was submitted for consideration, Baer spoke with Shilpa Alva, founder and executive director of Surge for Water, a nonprofit organization that works to improve water access in communities all around the world. Baer and Alva discussed global water access, the technology that enables it and what the audience can do to help change communities and people’s lives for the better.
"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to speak about the global water crisis on this podcast,” Alva said. “Issues this critical need more airtime, and I love that we were able to discuss tangible solutions where communities and women lead the way."
