PALMYRA, N.Y. (Jan. 20, 2012) - Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC has completed the third and final phase of its Brownfield Cleanup Program, for which it recently received a Certificate of Completion from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

The third phase of the program involved remediation at several areas of the site and removal of sediment from a small section of nearby Red Creek.

“This represents the culmination of more than six years of effort and millions of dollars of investment on the part of Garlock,” said Garlock President Dale Herold.

“However the program is more than paying for itself, not only in terms of government incentives, but even more importantly in terms of our environmental stewardship.”

Garlock voluntarily embarked upon the program in 2005, initially remediating the 100-year-old site where it had been producing its Klozure high-performance dynamic seals. The NYSDEC awarded the project a Certificate of Completion in 2006, and the company opened a new, state-of-the-art Klozure facility that was part of a larger plant modernization program.

In 2007 the company began remediation of the site where a new plant for producing its PTFE-based GYLON sealing products would be constructed. In 2008 cleanup of the site was certified by the NYSDEC, and the new plant was completed and began production in 2009. In 2011 a new pump diaphragm manufacturing process was added at the facility.

Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC, an EnPro Industries company, is the acknowledged leader in high-performance, fluid-sealing products for the global process industries.
