SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (April 10, 2012) - Celebrating pumps as the "heart of industry," ITT Goulds Pumps is recognizing individuals and organizations that work with pumps, while building consumer awareness about their importance, on this first annual Pump Appreciation Day.

  • The company is releasing the names of winners of the Heart of Industry Award, which recognizes companies and plants for "excellence in using pump technology to improve processes, satisfy customers and enhance our modern way of life."
  • The Pulse of Industry Honor Roll, which recognizes individuals for outstanding work in specifying, operating or maintaining pumps, is live on the Pump Appreciation Day website. Dozens of honorees will receive special certificates from ITT Goulds Pumps today.
  • The Pulse of Industry video premieres on PumpAppreciationDay.com, explaining to non-experts the indispensible role that pumps play in our world.

"From energy to mining to manufacturing, industrial pumps are the heart of processes that make businesses run and improve the lives of people everywhere," said Robert J. Pagano Jr., president of ITT Goulds Pumps, in a special eblast to ITT Goulds Pumps employees and the company's sales organization. "And yet, pumps and the people who run them are not often recognized for what they do. That's why we've planned a range of activities to celebrate the first international Pump Appreciation Day."

Presented by the ITT Goulds Pumps to customers around the world, the Heart of Industry Awards are designed to acknowledge leaders in using pump technology effectively to improve business processes.

The award recipients represent a broad spectrum of applications and markets -- including mining, oil and gas, chemical processing, pulp and paper, and general industry -- from more than a dozen countries in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific region. ITT Goulds Pumps is also paying tribute to the internal pump that keeps us all going. At a celebratory event at company headquarters, ITT Goulds Pumps is making a $25,000 donation to the international Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Program, supported by the American Heart Association and its global partners. The check will be presented at ITT Goulds Pumps headquarters in Seneca Falls, along with a demonstration of the recommended method for hands-only CPR.

"Pump Appreciation Day 2012 is just the beginning," Pagano said. "Over time, we want to raise awareness of the essential role of industrial pumps and the people who use them and keep them working, and we want people to understand the global significance of the ECC Program so they can be prepared in life-threatening situations. We've had a great response to this year's Pump Appreciation Day activities, and we're already looking forward to Pump Appreciation Day 2013."
