SENECA FALLS, N.Y. – (March 27, 2013) - Charles Cappellino, vice president of research, development and engineering at ITT Corporation's Industrial Process business, has been recognized by the Hydraulic Institute (HI) for his leadership in helping develop two new pump industry standards. Cappellino leads product development efforts for the company's Goulds Pumps brand and other leading product lines.

Cappellino served as vice-chair of two HI committees, both commissioned to create a new American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/HI Standard for rotodynamic (centrifugal) pumps, which have rotating impellers to increase pressure and flow rate of a fluid. The new standards provide operating principles for rotodynamic pumps to ensure longer performance life, better reliability and lower energy consumption.

"These two new standards give pump operators important information they need to know about determining the preferred operating region and net positive suction head for pumps," said Robert J. Pagano Jr., president of ITT Industrial Process. "Charlie has moved the industry forward in his work with the Hydraulic Institute, and has driven innovation, design and product development at ITT."

Cappellino has more than 30 years of experience at ITT, designing and developing industrial pumping products. He coordinates new product development programs and has designed pump and valve equipment for the chemical, paper, refinery, biopharmaceutical and general industrial markets.

ITT is a manufacturer of highly engineered critical components and customized technology solutions for growing industrial end-markets in energy infrastructure, electronics, aerospace and transportation. Building on its heritage of innovation, ITT partners with its customers to deliver enduring solutions to the key industries that underpin our modern way of life. Founded in 1920, ITT is headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., with employees in more than 30 countries and sales in a total of approximately 125 countries. The company generated 2012 revenues of $2.2 billion.

Goulds Pumps, a flagship brand of ITT, is a manufacturer of pumps for a wide range of industrial markets -- including chemical, mining, oil & gas, power generation, pulp and paper, and general industry. As the only manufacturer to make digital monitoring standard on every process pump, Goulds Pumps continues to lead the industry in both mechanical pump design and the adoption of smart technologies.

ITT Industrial Process is a member of the Hydraulic Institute (HI), the largest association of pump producers and suppliers to the pump industry in North America and a global authority on pumps and pumping systems. The mission of the Hydraulic Institute is to be a value-adding resource to member companies, engineering consulting firms, and pump users worldwide by developing and delivering comprehensive industry standards, expanding knowledge by providing education and tools for the effective application, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of pumps and pumping systems, and by serving as a forum for the exchange of industry information.
