HOUSTON (22 September 2014) – The third Middle East Turbomachinery Symposium (METS 2015) is returning to Doha 16-18 February 2015 with short courses running in conjunction with the event at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. This is the third time this biennial event has been hosted in Doha under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-‐Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum (QP).

The Turbomachinery Laboratory (Turbo Lab) at Texas A&M University will again organize this event in conjunction with Host and Titanium Sponsor Qatar Petroleum, Strategic Sponsor RasGas, and event support from Texas A&M University Qatar. The Turbo Lab operates under the auspices of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station in College Station, Texas and is considered the preeminent authority on quality continuing education for users of turbomachinery worldwide.

In addition to METS, the Turbo Lab organizes two other major symposia: the original Pump and Turbomachinery Symposia held annually in Houston, Texas every September; and the new Asia Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium to be held in Singapore in February 2016. Information about the Turbo Lab and all symposia may be found by visiting http://turbolab.tamu.edu or calling +1 979 845-‐7417.

Previous METS events have drawn more than 1,000 attendees and 60 exhibiting companies with representation from 27 countries. Similar or greater numbers are expected for METS 2015. This event includes a world-‐class educational forum for turbomachinery engineers with 20 lectures, more than a dozen tutorials, and more than three dozen case study presentations having been invited for further review on topics such as LNG, wet gas, vibration, gas turbines, surge and cavitation.

Technical sessions will include topics on maintenance, design and troubleshooting as well as short case studies describing in-‐the-‐field problems and their real-‐world solutions from authors and companies around the globe.

The technical program is developed and overseen by the METS Technical Advisory Committee, a group comprised of engineers from both regional and international companies in the industry. Dara Childs, Turbo Lab Director, and Abdulaziz Al-‐Naimi, Manager (Joint Interest) at RasGas serve as co-‐chairs of the committee.

The full program will be released in early November 2014 and may be found at mets.tamu.edu.

The exhibit hall will be open to the public, free of charge on Monday – Wednesday, 16-18 February 2015. Exhibitor and attendee delegate registration information may be found by visiting the METS 2015 website listed above.
