Oklahoma City, Okla. (Dec. 23, 2014) – World Water Works, Inc., has announced that it has been selected by the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) and the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) to bring their patent-pending AVNÔ technology to the global market.

The technology, which is named for the balance it achieves in ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) vs. nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB), utilizes a proprietary control strategy, applying selective pressure to aid in the segregation of the desired bacterial populations. This allows wastewater treatment systems to achieve more efficient removal of total nitrogen.

AVN will help manage the influent carbon, minimize the alkalinity demands and reduce the energy requirement of the system while at the same time maintaining effluent quality. AVN is the ACEÔ (alkalinity, carbon, energy) solution for cost effectively removing ammonia in the mainstream treatment activated sludge process.

“We are extremely excited to partner with DC Water and HRSD and their team of elite scientists and engineers to deliver this game-changing technology to the market,” said World Water Works CEO Mark Fosshage.

World Water Works was also recently selected to provide its cutting-edge DEMONÒ wastewater deammonification system to DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant.

World Water Works is a manufacturer of specialized process and wastewater treatment technologies.
