ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Nov. 2, 2015) – Nidec Corporation, in conjunction with The Nagamori Foundation, has announced that the company is accepting applications for the Second Annual Nagamori Awards. The Awards, named for Nidec founder Shigenobu Nagamori, seek to commend entry to middle-level research and development engineers who demonstrate innovative, documented development of motors, actuators, power generators and associated technologies.

Applicants must be engineers who are members of a university, public organization or private company located anywhere in the world and be recommended by their academic circle or their company supervisor. The application period closes on Jan. 31, 2016.

The Nagamori Awards are monetary rewards granted to three to five people annually. Winners of the awards will be notified in mid-May of 2016. Each winner will receive 1 million yen ($8,110.57) and a paid trip (for the winner and a companion) to the award ceremony in Kyoto, Japan on September 4, 2016. The Grand Nagamori Award recipient will be announced at the commendation ceremony and will receive a total of 5 million yen ($40,551).
