HELSINKI, Finland -- Wärtsilä has announced plans to acquire a US-based energy storage technology and solutions company in a bid to expand its energy storage and systems footprint.
The company will acquire Greensmith Energy Management Systems Inc. for an undisclosed amount. According to a release, the transaction is expected to occur by July 2017.

WINTERTHUR, Switzerland -- Sulzer last week announced plans to acquire a New Zealand pharmaceutical delivery company to round out its Applicator Systems division.
Sulzer has signed a binding agreement to acquire Simcro, a 230-employee company that manufactures animal pharmaceutical delivery devices such as injectors and applicators for livestock and companion animals. A Sulzer release values the acquisition at NZD 132 million.

DALLAS -- Flowserve has elected Roger Fix as its new chairman following the retirement of previous Board of Directors Chair Bill Rusnack.
Fix has served as a Flowserve director since 2006, according to a report on worldpumps.com. He was originally elected to the Board of Directors in 2006.
Previously, Fix was president and chief executive officer of Standex International Corporation.
OAKLAND, Calif. -- California has approved landmark regulation for anticipating, preventing and responding to potential dangers at oil refineries in the state.
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board approved the regulation on May 18.
