SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Sept. 22, 2014) – Xylem Inc. provided ultrafiltration solutions as part of the upgrade of the Santa Eufemia municipal water treatment plant, north of Oporto in Portugal. As a result of the upgrade, the plant has a new capacity of 24 million liters per day, providing clean drinking water to 80,000 people in the Guimarães and Vizela regions.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (July 31, 2014) – Xylem Inc. provided dewatering equipment to assist with the relief effort following devastating floods in the Balkans in May. More than 40 people were killed and thousands more displaced during the worst flooding to hit the region in more than a century. The flooding began in mid-May when average rainfall for three months’ fell in just three days, with Serbia and Bosnia being the worst affected areas.


BUXTON, England (June 25, 2014) – Xylem announced that it is expanding its bank of Godwin brand high head dewatering pumps to cater to increased rental demand for these water removal pumps. Xylem made the announcement at the opening day of the Hillhead 2014 trade show at Hillhead Quarry, Buxton, U.K. Xylem’s range of Godwin and Flygt brand dewatering pumps were on display at the show.

RYE BROOK, N.Y. (March 21, 2014) – Xylem Inc. announced that it has joined the U.S. Water Partnership (USWP). The public-private partnership was launched on World Water Day 2012 by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and seeks to mobilize U.S.-based knowledge, expertise and resources to improve water security around the world – particularly in those countries most in need.


SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Jan. 28, 2014) – Xylem won a contract valued at approximately $2.75 million to supply Xylem’s Wedeco-brand ultraviolet (UV) technologies to a wastewater treatment facility in the Vigo region of southwest Spain. With a treatment capacity of 147,000 cubic meters per day, benefiting 800,000 inhabitants, the facility will be the largest bio-filtration and UV wastewater treatment plant in Spain.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Jan. 27, 2014) – Xylem Inc. played a key role in a recovery mission to stabilize a large cargo ship carrying 150,000 tons of coal that ran aground off the coast of South Africa. Xylem’s Flygt 2600 series pumps removed water from the ship and helped to stabilize it so that none of the 1,830 tons of heavy fuel oil onboard leaked into the sea or endangered the local environment.

MORTON GROVE, Ill. (Oct. 15, 2013) – Xylem Inc. played a key part in opening the Global Water Center in Milwaukee, Wis., through its donation of pumps and products used in the building’s HVAC systems. SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Sept. 19, 2013) – Xylem Inc. has won a contract to develop and install a secondary wastewater treatment solution that will eliminate effluent odor problems and significantly improve the quality of wastewater in the town of Tolu on the Colombian Caribbean coast. The Xylem solution is one of the first wastewater treatment systems using ultraviolet (UV) disinfection to be developed in Colombia.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Aug. 8, 2013) – Xylem won a contract to provide a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) pretreatment system to help ensure an uninterrupted potable water supply to Abu Dhabi Emirate and the east coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The source water in the Gulf of Oman is subject to harmful algal blooms (HABs) sometimes termed ‘red-tides’; large concentrations of potentially toxic aquatic microorganisms.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (July 15, 2013) – Xylem has won a contract to provide ultraviolet (UV) drinking water treatment solutions to the largest UV disinfection project ever undertaken in Sweden. The Xylem solutions will help deliver clean, treated drinking water to 900,000 people across 16 municipalities. The facility will have the capacity to handle a potential 25 percent increase in water volume to support future population growth.
