In a consortium with Petrofac, Siemens will supply the complete technology for efficient direct-current transmission for the BorWin3 grid connection as the consortium leader. The consortium partner Petrofac will be responsible for the construction and offshore installation of the project's platform.

JAZAN, Saudi Arabia (April 8, 2014) – Siemens will supply the key components for a major combined-cycle power plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The power station is designed to deliver electricity to the Jazan Industrial city area in the southwest of the country and to the refinery of Jazan, which will additionally be supplied with process steam. The plant will be fueled with gasified refinery residues, which contributes greatly to the preservation of the country’s energy resources.

ERLANGEN, Germany (April 7, 2014) – The Andong combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in South Korea was erected in a record time of only 24 months. This liquefied natural gas (LNG) fired plant has an electrical capacity of 417 megawatts, making it the second Siemens operating H-class-based combined-cycle power plant in Asia with an efficiency level of more than 60 percent. The owner and operator is Korea Southern Power Co. Ltd. (KOSPO), a power supply utility.

MUNICH, Germany (Feb. 14, 2014) – BelAZ-75710, the world’s largest mining two-axle all-wheel-drive dump truck with weight-carrying capacity of 450 metric tons, demonstrated the performance worth of an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The new vehicle rolled out of the BelAZ plant in late 2013 is being field tested as the biggest machine of its class with a record breaking capacity.

ERLAGEN, Germany (Feb. 13, 2014) – Siemens Energy is supplying two steam turbines along with auxiliary and ancillary systems for the lignite-fired Soma Kolin Power Plant in Turkey. ERLANGEN, Germany (Feb. 5, 2014) – Siemens Energy and the U.S.-based company Zolo Technologies have expanded their previous collaboration to a worldwide license agreement for fossil-fueled steam generation boiler applications. Under the terms of the agreement, Siemens and Zolo will more closely integrate their combustion optimization products and actively extend their market activities beyond Europe into the U.S., China and other fossil markets in Asia.

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2014) – Siemens and Open Joint Stock Company Fortum have signed a long-term service contract for the Nyaganskaya GRES combined-cycle power plant in Nyagan, Russia. Nyaganskaya GRES is the world’s largest thermal power plant operating above the latitude of 62 degrees north and is the largest thermal power plant greenfield construction project in northern Russia. The power station consists of three combined-cycle power units totaling 1,254 megawatts (MW).

ERLANGEN, Germany (Jan. 13, 2014) – Siemens has received an order for the turnkey construction of the Bandirma II combined-cycle (gas and steam) power plant (CCPP) in Turkey. The purchaser is Enerjisa, a joint venture of Sabanci Holding and E.ON. Following the Samsun project, which is currently under construction, Bandirma II will be the second power plant in Turkey to be powered by an SGT5-8000H gas turbine, marking the sale of 28 of this model of gas turbine by Siemens worldwide.

It hit the milestone last week, just shy of 20 years since its launch in 1994. Over the past couple of decades, the Siemens Robicon Perfect Harmony medium voltage variable frequency drive has helped manufacturers in a wide range of industries—from oil and gas to power generation—achieve the reliability their critical processes require.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Dec. 17, 2013) – Siemens Energy has been awarded the contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of the San Gabriel combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 414 megawatts (MW). The customer is First NatGas Power Corp., a 100 percent owned company of the Philippine independent power producer First Gen Corporation. Siemens will build San Gabriel as a turnkey facility and then operate it.

ATLANTA (Dec. 11, 2013) – Siemens Industry announced the roll-out of its Managed Security Service in the U.S., a new offering aimed at providing continuous protection to production environments. The offering includes assessment of security posture, implementation of recommended security measures and transitions into ongoing defense against rapidly evolving cyber security threats in Industrial Control System environments. The new offering will first be introduced in the U.S.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Dec. 11, 2013) – The Lünen hard-coal-fired power plant owned by Trianel Kohlkraftwerk Lünen GmbH und Co. KG has been on line in continuous operation since December 2013. The plant was built as a turnkey unit under a consortium arrangement between Siemens and IHI Corporation. It has an installed electrical capacity of 750 megawatts. With 7,000 full-load operating hours predicted for 2014 the Lünen plant can provide electricity for around 1.5 million households.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Nov. 22, 2013) – Siemens Energy commissioned the Santo Domingo de los Olleros simple cycle power plant in Peru to Termochilca SAC after only 19 months of construction. Siemens erected the turnkey plant and will also continue to service the plant with a long-term service agreement. The 200 megawatt natural gas fueled power generation plant will start service in a simple cycle mode with an option for a combined cycle plant in the next phase.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Nov. 12, 2013) – Siemens Energy has received orders for a total of 20 SGT-800 industrial gas turbines from Thailand. The turbines will be used in various combined cycle cogeneration power plants within Thailand. The contract is part of the Thai government’s program to support small power producers. The end customers are the Thai independent power producers Amata B.Grimm Power Limited (ABP), which ordered 10 turbines, SSUT Co. Ltd. & PPTC Co. Ltd.

ERLANGEN, Germany (Nov. 5, 2013) – Siemens Energy will build a turnkey combined heat and power plant in Poland. The investor is the Polish energy utility PGE GiEK S.A. The Gorzów plant will have an electric capacity of 138 megawatts (MW) and a thermal capacity of 90 MW. Thanks to combined heat and power, the plant’s fuel efficiency rating will be 84 percent. Commissioning is planned for early 2016.
